2. Oceans around the world produce an average of US$ 2.5 trillion per year of economic value worldwide. It is just a little less than the GDP of the fifth-largest economy in the world, UK. And slightly more than the GDP of the sixth-largest world economy, France.

3. About 44 percent of the world’s population lives within 150 kilometers (93 miles) of the ocean. It makes for up to 3.8 billion people in the world.

4. By the year 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans.

5. More than a million marine birds die every year due to plastic wastes ingestion. And more than 100,000 marine lives suffer from it.

The above-mentioned stats are not just facts and figures to look upon and forget. Everyone in this world needs to understand how essential oceans are for us. Our lives and future depend upon the actions we take. We should act more responsibly and contribute to keeping our oceans clean. The conservation program isn’t just to save the marine ecosystem rather it is for us. We need to remember the basic principle that whenever the marine ecosystem suffers a loss people suffer as well.

TikTok and Conservation international are not asking people to go in person to clean the plastic waste. Rather they just want them to share awareness regarding the importance of oceans. One can enjoy sharing TikTok videos with the #SaveourOceans and help to save the oceans.
